SINDY STERCKX is a senior scientist at the Remote Sensing  Unit of the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO), Belgium. Her research interests include calibration and validation of earth observation data, atmospheric correction and hyperspectral remote sensing.  
She is responsible for the radiometric Image Quality Center (IQC) of ESA’s PROBA-V mission. Currently, she also works as a radiometric validation expert for the Sentinel-3 Mission Performance Center as part of the Expert Support Laboratories (ESL). 
She has participated in various working groups such as the CEOS Calibration & Validation Infrared Visible Optical Sensors (IVOS) subgroup, the International Ocean-Colour Coordinating Group (IOCCG) and the MERIS and Sentinel-3 Validation Teams. Since 2017 she is a member of the ESSC Earth Sciences Panel.
