Anne Decourchelle is an expert in X-ray astronomy, and specifically on the physics of the hot interstellar medium and supernova remants.
She was in charge of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research from 2011 to 2013, Director of the Astrophysics department at CEA Saclay, one of Europe’s leading space astrophysics laboratories, from 2014 to 2021. Her expertise led to her participation in many aspects of space missions, as well as in various complementary space science committees. She was a member of the ESA Astronomy Advisory Group (AWG) from 2008 to 2010 and of the ESA Space Science Advisory Committee (SSAC) from 2019 to 2021. She was a member of the Athena Science Study Team, co-chair of the Observatory science panel.
She is currently a member of the CNES Scientific Programs Committee (CPS). She chairs the ESA XMM-Newton User’s group. She is an ESA Guest Scientist on the JAXA/NASA/ESA XRISM observatory, working on the new high spectral resolution X-ray data.
