European Science Foundation

Interests

Cosmochemistry, astrophysics, and astronomy

Having started his academic career as a cosmochemist, Jean-David eventually also got involved in astrophysics through multidisciplinary projects. Building bridges has been a focal point of his career. He endeavoured to create links and a better communication between scientific fields but also between researchers and the public through his active part in many outreach events.

He supports the European Space Sciences Committee by assisting the Astronomy and Fundamental Physics panel. He also manages EC-funded projects and assists the Europlanet Society.

Jean-David holds a Master in Oceanic Geosciences from the University of Western Brittany (FR) and a PhD in cosmochemistry from The Open University (UK). After his PhD, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Max-Planck Institute for Chemistry (DE) and a joint position ETH Zürich and the University of Zürich (CH).
